Biography
Hey There! My name is Zachary Valencia and I was born and raised in the city of San Jose, California and currently the age of 27. From getting lost in the gorgeous hills of Xenoblade Chronicles to summoning deadly spells in Final Fantasy, I fell in love with these beautiful digital masterpieces of video gaming that were bountiful with breath-taking graphic design and art styles, spurring on my interest in art further.
In the year of 2012, I entered the business tract known as the "Magnet Program" at my high school, Piedmont Hills High School, where I would sign up for four years of computer classes that showcased the intersection between technology, art, and business. It included CIT(Computer Information Technology), Graphic Design, Web Design, and "Insane Ink". There I would learn about computers at a deeper level, be introduced to Graphic Design, learn how to create websites through HTML 5 and Adobe Dreamweaver, and learn how to run a business through the student-run business/class called "Insane Ink" that focused on completing a plethora of design jobs, such as apparel, where I would be the lead graphic designer for my team. My sophomore year was when I had Graphic Design as a class and where I would grow to love it. From advanced spreadsheet data analysis in Microsoft Excel to long lines of HTML code, I developed a wide variety of skills, but it was the combination of meticulous detail and endless creativity of graphic design that became my favorite and inspired me to focus my career on.
That love for creating a plethora of things digitally would follow me throughout my time in high school and even as a college student at Foothill Community College. At this institution, I would continue to hone my skills as a graphic designer and graduate with two Associate's Degrees in "Graphic & Interactive Design" and "Art History". I aim to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design during my time at San Jose State University. The knowledge that I learned from high school and through college has made me appreciate all of the graphic design I see within the video games I play, the packaging of various products, book covers, posters, etc. and amplified the affection I had with my hobbies exponentially. Ultimately, this would turn Graphic Design into something I love and the career that I aim to pursue in the future.
